Unified Champion School

Mission

To provide athletic opportunities to school-age children with intellectual disabilities. To foster a better understanding amongst their non-disabled peers. To instill in all students the confidence needed to succeed in life.

Unified Champion Schools is a unique education strategy in Pre-K through Transition schools (ages 18-22). This unifies students with and without disabilities through Unified Sports, Inclusive Youth Leadership, and Whole School Engagement.

These activities educate students with the skills necessary to develop school communities that promote inclusion, acceptance and respect for all students.

Who can become a Unified Champion School?

Any school can become a Unified Champion School! If you’re ready to take the leap, we’ll work with you to make it happen. Complete the interest form at the button below and an SONV staff member will reach out to you. If you would like to talk to an SONV staff member about your school joining, please contact Schools@sonv.org.

What is a Unified Champion School?

Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools® is an opportunity for school’s pre-K through university level to intentionally promote meaningful social inclusion.

How do you become a Unified Champion School?

To officially be recognized as a SONV Unified Champion School, schools must:

Complete an activity in each component within each school year.

Report your activities to Special Olympics Nevada (SONV) through the activity reporting form. Then schedule a time for SONV to present your earned banner and/or sticker.
