Basketball

Sports Season: January – March

Basketball is one of the more popular sports at Special Olympics. Players take it up at all ages and at all abilities, from young players learning to handle the ball and keep it under control while dribbling to older, more experienced players who have the moves and know the strategies to play challenging ball.

Learn More About Basketball

We believe it is important for our coaches to receive certification training in order to provide them with the tools needed to help our athletes have a positive sports experience. By taking the online certification training, coaches will learn best practices when approaching sports training with our athletes. Certification is required for certain coaching situations and is recommended for all coaches. Please also make sure to check out the SONV Rules and the National Governing Body Rules for Basketball (below)
